NORMAL HALL

ISU - TERRE HAUTE, IN

The Normal Hall Renovation on the Indiana State University campus in Terre Haute, Indiana was completed by Weddle. This project was the complete renovation of the oldest surviving structure on the ISU campus. The project also featured an entry addition component that married the old structure with a modern facility that attached to it. The schedule for the project was approximately 14 months and was greatly impacted by the fact that the existing north wall of Normal Hall unexpectedly had to be completely demolished and rebuilt while shoring the existing floors and roof. Featured aspects can now be seen throughout Normal Hall that were previously in varied states of disarray. Examples include the beautiful stained glass dome and the historic southern entry steps. As with any building of this age, the complete renovation of the MEP systems was a must. The ornate dome in the center of the building was not only notable for it's beauty, but it also served as a great 'chase' to hide all the new MEP infrastructure.
