HUNTINGBURG REGIONAL AIRPORT RUNWAY EXPANSION

huntingburg regional airport runway expansion over highway

To accommodate larger corporate aircrafts, Huntingburg Airport set to build the first runway over a tunnel in Indiana. Over the two and a half year multi-phase job, Weddle self-performed relocating utilities, lowering county road 200S, building a tunnel structure, widening the runway, expanding the taxiway, and repaving. Weddle moved over 300,000 cubic yards of dirt and extended the runway to 5,501 ft long and 100 ft wide. In order to close the county highway running through the project, Weddle was responsible for coordinating closely with Dubois County Highway Department, local water, electric, and telecommunication companies.
